These are the questions people put to us through the form and at the consultation, grouped the way they are asked. Price and which areas EMface treats come first because they are asked most. Where an answer depends on your face, the free consultation is where the clinician settles it; call 0207 043 8102 or use the form below.
Price
Do you publish your prices?
We publish our starting price: EMface is from £199 per session at our clinic, the course price is confirmed in writing at your free consultation, we price match any comparable written quote, and we offer 0% finance over the course. The prices page lists how the course is built.
How much is it for the jowls, neck and jawline?
The early jowl is treated with the cheek applicators, and the jawline and the area under the chin with the submentum applicator, which counts as a third area alongside the forehead and the cheeks. EMface is from £199 per session, and your written quote covers whichever areas the clinician agrees with you. EMface has no neck applicator; for the neck itself the clinician will say whether Sofwave at our sister clinic at the same address is the better fit.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes, 0% finance over the course. The clinician goes through the terms at the consultation, before you decide.
Is the consultation free?
Yes, and so are the follow-up reviews, whatever you decide.
Which areas EMface treats
Which parts of the face does EMface treat?
The forehead and brow, the cheeks, the area around the eyes and the area under the chin and along the jawline, each with its own applicator. The forehead and the cheeks are the standard pair; the eyes and the submentum are added when the clinician sees they will help. The full face, eyes and double chin pages describe each.
Does EMface get rid of eye bags?
The eye applicator is made for the area around the eyes, and we run it alongside the forehead and cheek applicators. It tightens the skin and lifts the area; it does not remove a fat pad. The clinician tells you at the free consultation whether your eye bags are the kind it helps.
Does it get rid of dark circles under the eyes?
No, not dark circles from pigment or thin skin. EMface lifts and tightens the area around the eyes, which can make hollows and crepey skin look better, and the clinician will advise on dark circles at your free consultation.
Can EMface remove a double chin?
The submentum applicator treats a soft double chin and the jawline, and is cleared in the US for the appearance of lax tissue under the chin. A large fat pad under the chin needs a different plan, and the clinician will say so.
Can it tighten a saggy neck?
EMface has no neck applicator: it treats the face and the area under the chin. For the neck itself, Sofwave at our sister clinic at the same address is the treatment we recommend, and the free consultation is where the clinician plans the order.
Does it work on the lips and the lines above the mouth?
EMface itself has no applicator for the lips or the area around the mouth. We combine EMface with Exion Face, a needle-free radiofrequency and ultrasound treatment, when the skin needs more help than the lift alone gives, and the clinician will say whether that suits you.
Can it reduce wrinkles and puffiness across the whole face?
Forehead lines, the fold from the nose to the mouth and crepey skin on the cheeks are what EMface is made for: the manufacturer reports 37% fewer wrinkles after a course, and peer-reviewed studies on patients measure about 35% fewer wrinkles, measured in 3D, at three months. Puffiness depends on its cause, and the clinician tells you at the free consultation whether yours is the kind EMface helps.
Sessions and results
Do I have to do it more than once for it to work?
Yes. One session gives a fresher, lightly lifted look for a few days; the lasting lift comes from a course of four sessions about a week apart, and the main result shows six to twelve weeks after the last one. The sessions page explains why.
How long does it last before it reverts?
Around twelve months for most people in our clinic's experience. One session every three to six months keeps the lift, or a two-session top-up once a year. See how long EMface lasts.
Is it painful?
It feels like a strong facial massage with warmth under the pads, and many people find it relaxing enough to doze. The clinician sets the energy to a level you can hold comfortably and no numbing cream is needed.
What does a session involve, and how long does it take?
Twenty minutes for the forehead and cheeks, with the applicators fixed to the face by a light adhesive; about 20 minutes more if the submentum is included. The skin is a little pink for ten to twenty minutes afterwards and makeup is fine straight away. How EMface works takes you through it step by step.
Who it suits
Is EMface suitable at 70 plus?
Yes where the skin keeps some elasticity. If a fold of loose skin at the jaw stays when you lift your chin, that is more than EMface lifts, and the clinician will say so and point you to the treatment that fits.
Is it safe on black skin?
The published studies so far cover Fitzpatrick skin types I to IV, the pale to olive range. For darker skin the clinician checks your skin at the free consultation, starts the energy low and tells you plainly whether EMface suits it.
Can I have EMface after thyroid surgery?
Healed surgery elsewhere in the body, such as thyroid surgery six months ago, is not a barrier. Facial surgery or threads in the last three months are. Bring your history to the consultation and the clinician decides.
Can I have it with a tooth implant?
Metal implants in the face or jaw rule EMface out, and a dental implant is usually metal, so bring the details to your free consultation and the clinician tells you which treatment suits you instead.
Is it safe in pregnancy?
No. Pregnancy, or trying to conceive, rules EMface out, as do a pacemaker or any implanted electronic device, epilepsy, an active skin infection in the area and a cancer under active treatment.

Compared with other treatments
How does EMface compare with a thread lift?
A thread lift places threads under the skin to hold it higher; EMface lifts by strengthening the muscles that hold the face up and tightening the skin over them, with nothing placed in the skin and you back at work the same day. If you have had threads, we wait three months before starting EMface, and non-dissolving metal threads rule it out. The clinician will say which suits your face.
Can I combine EMface with a facial or my skincare?
Yes. Your regular skincare and facials carry on as normal; we only ask you to skip a hard gym session on the evening of a session. Injectable treatments are timed around the course: two weeks after an injectable in the area and four weeks after dermal filler before the first session.
Booking and the clinic
Is the clinic doctor led?
Yes. The clinic is doctor led and CQC registered, and every session is run by a trained clinician on a genuine BTL EMface device.
